Viewing "sin" as a symptom of lack is a powerful and historically recognized perspective. Philosophically, theologians like Simone Weil described sin as an attempt to "fly from emptiness". When we feel a sense of lack—whether it be a deficit of love, purpose, joy, or security—we often try to fill that void with destructive habits, greed, or selfishness.

Looking at it this way, "sin" isn't just an act of malice; it’s an attempt to meet a legitimate human need in an unhealthy or unsustainable way.
